Bugbrooke Strollers

Walk With The Strollers

The Strollers are  a leisurely walking group catering for older walkers who wish to enjoy a stroll through the countryside on a weekly basis.

They meet each Thursday at 10am and each walk takes about 2 hours.  About once a month the walk is in the Parish of Bugbrooke but on other occasions a short car journey is taken to surrounding villages with the walk starting and finishing from the agreed parking place. 

There is no fee for joining the group and the age range tends to be over 50's.  On the last Thursday of each month a pub is chosen as the venue for lunch and the walk starts and finishes from that point.

About 20 people usually take part in the walks, although there are some 50 people who have joined the group at their convenience since the group was formed in 1998.

A programme setting out walks for the 2 months in advance is produced 6 times each year.  This is published in the Link and on village notice boards.

The group is open to anyone wishing to enjoy a sociable and leisurely stroll each week.

The Strollers meet on Thursdays at 10.00.am. for a variety of walks (see latest programme below) which last for about two hours and proceed at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for a chat and a breather.

If you would like to join in, please just turn up. Meeting places are shown in the programme.

Proposed programme of walks for November and December 2018

All walks take place on Thursdays and meet at 10.00.am.

 

 

November 1st

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Adstone. Walk to Fulling Mill, then along the original Banbury Lane towards Moreton Pinkney, and return.

 

 

November 8th

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Litchborough and park near the Church. Walk towards Seawell Grounds, follow brook, and return.

 

 

November 15th

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Whittlebury. Walk to Pury End and return.

 

November 22nd

 

 

 

Meet at the Community Centre  at 10.00.am. Walk via Wards Lodge to the Kislingbury Road, turning off to return via Hallelujah Corner and Corporation Farm.

 

November 29th  

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Roade and park at the Cock Inn. Walk to Courteenhall and return for lunch.

 

December 6th

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Rothersthorpe and park near Church. Walk across fields to Canal and follow towpath round Gayton Arm. Return via flight of Locks..

 

 

December 13th  

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Ashton and park at the Old Crown. Walk to Roade and return for Christmas Lunch. (Booking essential – see separate sheet).

 

December 20th

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Walk via the Five Bells to Nether Heyford, then along the Nene Way to Charity Meadow returning either by Smith’s Lane or Bugbrooke Mill and Telephone Exchange.

 

December 27th  

 

 

 

Meet at Church Car Park 10.00.am. Drive to Everdon and park at the Plough. Walk via Everdon Hill and return for lunch.
